第二次來紐約一樣有新體驗!! 這就是大蘋果迷人的地方~哈

You can always experience new stuff in the hustle and charming city.
This is why I love the Big Apple.


難得暑假我最親愛的雲雲和平平 (雲-->我媽, 平-->我妹)來找我玩!!
對第一次來美國的她們
除了來加州找我
也計畫了簡單的一個多禮拜東岸自助旅行 (紐約+華盛頓)
比起上次自己來  這趟去了很多之前沒機會走到的地方  好開心!!
好多東西想分享  所以分成幾篇來寫  要持續收看喔!! 

My mom and little sis came to visit me in the summer.
Apart from California, we also planned to conquer the east coast (NY+Washington D.C.)
since this is their first time to the States.
The 8-day trip will be blogged in several posts to share my explorations lol.

自助旅行當然就要省錢精打細算

第一次坐美國國內線班機
小小的機艙跟去長灘島的小飛機一樣

My first time to board a domestic flight.
The tiny cabin.





紐約我們來囉!!
(看到美麗的夜景了嗎?)

New York here we go!!
(See the pretty night view?)



 
雖然廉價航空短短4, 5個小時的飛行不包餐
但不時有貼心的小零食和飲料任君挑選
我就是在這時發現了超好吃的玉米片
(大勝Costco的白玉米片Tortilla  我到華盛頓還買了大包的來嗑Yum~ )
玉米片超級有玉米香+一點都不會過鹹
柔軟的外皮  咬下去又香脆!! Good!!!

No meals were served in the short flight.
But snacks and beverages were offered for TV and movie times LOL.
The "Pop Corners" chips were awesome that I grabbed a big bag of it in Washington D.C.
Totally love the authentic corn flavor and not-too-salty crunchy taste.






第一天到時已經是半夜
隔天起個大早吃完活力早餐就出發囉!!

It's already midnight when we arrived.
Having a rich breakfast on the second day at McDonald's to start a new day!!





第一天
第一站就來聖派克大教堂 (St. Patrick's Cathedral)
建立於1906 是美國最大的羅馬天主教教堂
這棟由白色大理石蓋成的教堂
不僅有氣派的外觀   裡面神聖莊嚴的氛圍更是值得一訪

Day 1
The first stop was the "St. Patrick's Cathedral."
Built in 1906 and is the largest Roman Catholic cathedral in the U.S.
The impressive white-marble exterior and the solemn interior make it a must-see spot.




四周的鋼架是因為剛好在工程 (好傷心)
在裡面不時還可以聽到敲打聲.... (但依然沒破壞我門的好心情哈)

The surrounded iron structure was due to the ongoing construction.
Clinking sound could be heard when we were in there.




一進大門又是工程
但是沒有整修就沒有更漂亮的教堂給大家看
所以還是忍忍八 (樂觀ing)

If you come during this summer, don't feel bad when you bump into this as you step in lol.





教堂依然很美喔
一進門就有點祈願蠟燭的小木櫃 (一塊錢一個)

Feel free to light a blessing candle at the front door. ($1/ each)





美呆了~
你能想像在這裡舉辦神聖的婚禮嗎?

Can you imagine how awesome it would be to have a wedding here!!!





教堂裡很安靜很肅穆
細緻的建築雕刻可以仰望好久細細觀賞
在這裡可以感受宗教撫慰和激勵人心的力量

It's so quiet inside the solemn palace.
Delicate sculptures keep your eyes busy as you walk down the aisle.
You can find comfort and inspiring power in the religion.





外面天氣好熱呼呼  裡面的空調好涼爽喔
一進來暑氣全消  真好~

The air-condition cooled us down.  : )
We've been sweating the whole morning.... (phew~)






後面的參觀區是禁止拍照的
裡面是莊嚴的聖母堂

The statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary can be seen in the backside of the shrine.
Photos are prohibited in this area.

逛完了大教堂
走路就可以到著名的中央車站 "Grand Central Station/ Terminal"
沒錯!! 太多電影和影集都在這熟悉的地方取景
實際走進這裡再回想電影的浪漫情景  心裡忍不住哇哇哇

We walked to the Grand Central Station/ Terminal after the cathedral tour.
Countless movies and TV series were filmed in this hustle and bustle terminal.
It felt so real as I stood here and recalled some of the romantic scenes!!!






車站裡兩側掛的黃金色吊燈也好美 
伴隨著底下穿梭的旅人身影   更有繁忙紐約大都會的味道  

The huge golden pendent lights hanging at the sides were so pretty.
Travelers passing underneath embodied what New York was like.
 





來自世界各地的旅客都走得好匆忙
好像時時刻刻是台北車站的尖峰時刻
在加州待久了有點不習慣這種快步調

You can see people walking really fast and rushing to a certain direction everywhere.
Just like the rush hours back home in Taiwan's Taipei Main Station lol.
The slow-paced California has really slowed me down somehow.  





逛完車站可以到樓下美食街吃個簡單的午餐
有異國料理  麵包,點心店  還有各式飲料bar
這裡的店家不算非常多  但種類也算齊全

The food court under the station offers multiple options for a quick lunch.
You can find exotic cuisine, bakeries, drink bar or snacks etc.




美食街是旅客殺時間的好地方

It's a good place to grab a bite for commuters and travelers.




雲雲中午後來吃了她最愛的印度咖哩
這間不錯吃點餐服務也好

Mom had her favorite Indian curry for lunch. (Yumm~)




天氣太熱吃不下
我們跑來喝水果smoothie  推薦這間位於走道中間的"dishes"
果汁都是現點現打  重類也好多喔! 好喝好喝

We didn't feel like eating in the hot day,
so just ordered a delicious and fresh fruit smoothie from "dishes."
You should try this if you come here!!!

吃完午餐
第三站是"紐約市立圖書館"
喔喔大家記得這裡就是電影慾望城市   凱莉夢想舉辦婚禮的地方嗎?
(因為富藏了世界讚頌愛情的詩集和故事)

The third stop today was "New York Public Library."
The place where Carrie dreamed of holding her wedding in the movie
keeps the world-famous collections of love poems and stories.





雖然面對車水馬龍的大馬路
圖書館前的空地   和兩旁樹蔭下都擺放著簡單桌椅
讓這樣寸土寸金的都市裡   也給城市人一個可以稍稍放鬆的角落

The chairs and tables scattered under the shade in-front or aside the library
become a getaway for New Yorkers who are always in a hurry.




圖書館室內也別有一番風情

The interior is another grand view to enjoy.




電影裡凱莉抬頭就是仰望這片美輪美奐的裝飾
(挖喔~ 現在我也在看一樣的東西!!!)

In the movie "Sex and the City", Carrie was overwhelmed by the sight up here as she looked up.
(Couldn't believe that I was looking at the same masterpiece.)






如果學校圖書館就是這樣
我可以坐在這裡專心一整天 哈哈哈

I could hit the books by sitting here for all day long if our school library was exactly the same LOL.




這裡超級安靜  而且超   級   氣   派!!!

Super quiet in here, and SUPER breathtaking.





有機會來紐約一定要來這裡走走跳跳喔!!

在紐約的第一頓晚餐
我們來到一間有演奏爵士樂的小酒館 "Antibes Bistro" (點我)
這裡每個禮拜二和三有爵士樂

We had dinner at "Antibes Bistro" for the first night in NY. (Link)
Jazz music is performed in the restaurant every Tues and Wedns.




紐約到處都有Jazz bar
這間現場的爵士樂很輕快 隨興
來的這天比較晚所以客人不多  店雖小也不會感覺擁擠
服務也很棒!

Never miss the jazz music in New York.
The live and light jazz music was so relaxing.
We came sort of late so not so many people dined in here.
But the service was really nice.




音樂好聽  餐點也很棒喔!

主菜我們點了
"Guinness Braised Short Rib" (左下)
這是道頓得很軟爛又入味的排骨肉  佐奶油烤馬鈴薯+菠菜

"Chicken under Brick" (左中)
主要是烤嫩雞  佐馬鈴薯泥+類似像四季豆的蔬菜

開胃菜有
"Truffle Roasted Asparagus" (左上)
超級好吃這道真心推薦!!
松露佐新鮮蘆筍  超級入味又有蘆筍的清爽香甜


Aside from great music, the food was satisfying too.

Main courses we had are
"Guinness Braised Short Rib" (lower left)
(Potato gratin, spinach, braising reduction)

"Chicken under Brick" (middle left)
(Truffle potato puree, haricots verts, chicken jus)

For Appetizer,
"Truffle Roasted Asparagus" (upper left)
(Assorted mushrooms, shaved parmesan, herb salad)
The dish is highly recommended, it's super tasty!!!
